Oman, located on the Arabian Peninsula, is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world. The country is characterized by authenticity and its extremely friendly people. The capital Muscat is home to the largest mosque in Oman, the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, which is definitely worth a visit. From Muscat you can easily travel to the Hadjar Mountains, a rugged mountain landscape characterized by challenging 4x4 routes and beautiful mountain walks. During your trip to Oman, be sure to visit the beautiful old fortress in Nizwa and count the camels in the endless sandy plains of the Sharqiya Sands. Oman is a beautiful country and should be on every travelers' bucket list.
